OSCOC IS ONE OF THE FIRST AMBULATORY SURGERY CENTERS IN THE COUNTRY TO BRING TRANSPARENCY TO HEALTH CARE BY LISTING QUALITY DATA AND GLOBAL CASH PRICING ON ITS WEBSITE.
ORTHOPEDIC SURGERY CENTER OF ORANGE COUNTY
Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County (OSCOC) in Newport Beach, California, is a freestanding surgical center where more than 4,600 musculoskeletal procedures are performed each year, including sports medicine (knee and shoulder repairs); partial knee replacement; minimal invasive total hip replacement; hand
and upper extremity procedures; foot and ankle procedures; minimal invasive spine procedures and pain management. The Center has been established and affiliated with Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian since 1999 and is a fully owned subsidiary of Hoag Orthopedic Institute. OSCOC is Medicare-certified and, for the thirteenth straight year, holds full accreditation with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC).
OSCOC has 24 board-certified orthopedic surgeons, two board-certified pain management physiatrists and five podiatrists on staff. Its facility includes four operating rooms with state- of-the-art orthopedic equipment, private patient rooms for overnight recovery for minimally invasive spine procedures and minimally invasive total hip replacements, which have been performed at OSCOC since 2007.
OSCOC is an in-network/contracted provider with all major payers since 2000. OSCOC is one of the first ambulatory surgery centers in the country to bring transparency to health care by listing quality data and global cash pricing on its website. The global cash price is all-inclusive – a major patient and payer satisfier. (See also: http://oscoc.com/ global-cashself-pay-rates/).
OSCOC’s experienced staff and physicians consider training partnerships with surgical and nursing training programs an important community service. Through a partnership
with the Saddleback College nursing program, student RNs rotate through OSCOC to observe perioperative work flow and provide supervised patient care. This year, OSCOC began a partnership with the Saddleback College Registered Nurse New Grad program so that recently licensed, selected RNs complete a voluntary clinical externship at OSCOC over a 10- to 12-week period. This is an opportunity to gain perioperative experience and confidence in their new role as full-fledged RNs.

Pain management at OSCOC involves epidural injections and, for certain patients and conditions, spine stimulators to provide relieve from chronic pain conditions. Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County partners with two physiatrists who specialize in this field.
