HOAG ORTHOPEDICS LAUNCHES NEW FELLOWSHIP IN HEALTH POLICY & MANAGEMENT
In 2019, Hoag Orthopedics launched the Health Policy & Management Fellowship Program under the leadership of Program Chairman, James Caillouette, MD. Dr. Caillouette collaborated
with Vanessa Glotzbach, program director, and others across HOI and Hoag to develop a unique curriculum designed to promote value-based health care among hospital administrators.
“HOI has created a culture around value-based care – delivering better outcomes with lower cost and a superior experience. Our goal with the fellowship is to expand the knowledge of high- value health care among hospital administrators. Fundamental to high-value care is the alignment and partnership among administrators and
physicians, and this is what we are focusing on in the fellowship,” says Dr. Caillouette.
The Health Policy & Management Fellowship at Hoag Orthopedics is the first and only program of its kind in the country.
For Young Lee, MHA, the program’s inaugural fellow, observing senior-level decision-making processes and participating in team decision- making provided insight into the interdependent nature of hospital departments. “It was in working with the different teams and people where
I gained most of the unique value that separates a fellowship from regular employment,” recalls Young, who joined Hoag as a value-based analyst lead after completing his fellowship.
