PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT (PI)
An important first step in personal improvement is to know one’s self. The same holds true for an orthopedic specialty hospital, as shown through the following key examples of performance improvement at HOI.

FALLS PREVENTION TEAM
17 | HOAG ORTHOPEDIC INSTITUTE
A multidisciplinary Falls Prevention team comprised of nurses, physical therapists, a pharmacist as well as performance improvement professionals meets regularly to optimize
patients’ safety using sustained fall prevention efforts. HOI data demonstrates a downward trend in its patient fall rate. For FY 2017, HOI had no patient fall that resulted in injury. This year,
HOI is participating with Health Services Advisory Group Hospital Innovation and Improvement Network (HSAG HIIN) to collaborate and share fall prevention initiatives and best practices.
