Presenting the 2025 Outcomes Report

On behalf of Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI), we are pleased to share our 2025 Outcomes Report, including our upgraded digital viewing experience (HOIOutcomes.com).

Entering our 15th year of service to the Southern California community, HOI remains dedicated to providing nationally ranked, award-winning care. As a physician owned hospital, our leadership remains committed to delivering patient value and demonstrating how our entrepreneurial drive fuels innovation and superior outcomes.

As of December 2024, HOI has treated 275,000 patients since opening its doors 15 years ago. Our enterprise, including our hospital and five affiliated surgery centers, is the West Coast’s volume leader for joint replacement surgeries – including hips, knees and shoulders. HOI surgeons continue to perform the highest volume of spinal surgeries in Orange County and are renowned for their expertise in complex deformity as well as revision procedures. We are also the highest volume anterior hip replacement center in the western United States. This year, we were honored to be a host site for the Anterior Hip Foundation’s Traveling Fellows program which exposes early practicing orthopedic surgeons to anterior total hip arthroplasty techniques through visitations with experts in the field. Our expertise is shaping the future of orthopedic care through surgical techniques and outcomes that influence national best practices.

Our research and education program continues to flourish with HOI physicians contributing to numerous clinical studies and academic papers highlighting developments in various orthopedic specialties. One of our physician leaders was presented with the prestigious Charles S. Neer Award for Clinical Science for their work published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery. HOI maintains a strong commitment to education through our graduate fellowship programs, continually advancing the specialized skill sets and expertise of future orthopedic leaders.

HOI’s robotic surgical program reached a milestone of completing more than 1,000 robotic-assisted joint replacement surgeries over a two-year period. Robotic surgery is on pace for record levels in the year ahead, enhancing the skills of our fellowship trained joint replacement surgeons.

On behalf of our entire team of physicians, clinicians, researchers, and support staff, here’s to another year of innovation, positive outcomes, and excellent patient experience.
