Hoag Orthopedic Institute physicians founded Hoag Orthopedics, a non-profit entity, to foster education, research and community outreach in orthopedic medicine. Donor support, including over $1.6 million from HOI physicians, enables Hoag Orthopedics to advance its mission, grow the team, and broaden its impact on patients and orthopedic care providers. Hoag Orthopedics focuses on the following key areas:
Innovative Research
Hoag Orthopedics is actively involved in medical research and partners with industry leaders and innovators to develop new orthopedic treatment modalities based on scientific methodology. The goal of Hoag Orthopedics’ research efforts is to improve patient outcomes and orthopedic care.
Advancing Orthopedic Education
HOI physicians are committed to teaching and preparing the next generation of skilled surgeons.
Hoag Orthopedics currently facilitates orthopedic fellowship programs in Adult Reconstruction Hip & Knee, Spine Surgery, Sports Medicine, Foot & Ankle, as well as a Health Policy & Management Fellowship for aspiring hospital administrators. Hoag Orthopedics also provides continuing education through monthly Grand Rounds presentations.
Serving the Community
HOI physicians partner with local schools in the classroom and on the sidelines, facilitating immersive internship programs for research and education, providing team coverage, and hosting “Back to Play” to engage with local high school students around health care career paths.
