HOI is Orange County’s only ve-star rated hospital and one of only two in all of Los Angeles and Orange Counties to earn the designation in 2016.
The ve-star distinction for quality, released for the rst time in July 2016 through CMS’ Hospital Compare website, improves the transparency and accessibility of hospital quality information. The ‘Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating’ is designed to help individuals, their family members and caregivers compare hospitals in an easily understandable way.
The star quality rating system ranges from one
to ve stars, with ve being the highest rating. It is based on performance data that hospitals report to CMS, and summarizes measures from seven areas: mortality, safety of care, readmission, patient experience, effectiveness of care, timeliness of care and ef cient use of medical imaging.
