 PATIENT STORIES CONTINUED
BACK TO: DANCING Patient: Andrea “Andy” Rose Procedure: ACL Reconstruction
Andrea “Andy” Rose has been dancing since she can remember. It has been a lifelong passion of hers. In 2019, she was dancing on stage when she had a faulty landing and severely injured her right knee. Andy scheduled an appointment with one of HOI’s orthopedic surgeons and learned she had severe bone bruising on her upper tibia,
a shredded ACL, and grade 2/3 cartilage damage.
After an ACL reconstruction at HOI and physical therapy, Andy is on her way back to dancing and the other activities she loves – body surfing, rollerblading, biking, and mountain hiking.
She is thankful not only for the expert surgical care she received, but also for the team around her who was always in positive spirits and helped her stay motivated.

BACK TO: PLAYING BASEBALL Patient: Garrett Riley
Procedure: Hand Surgery
As a senior varsity athlete at Mater Dei High School, Garrett Riley was used to working through minor pains. But when he felt his hand swell from a foul ball, he and his family decided to seek care with the experts at HOI.
One week after undergoing an outpatient procedure with one of HOI’s hand surgeons to address the fracture in the hook of hamate bone in his hand, Garrett eased into at-home care.
One month after surgery, Garrett was back pitching and ready to play baseball at Grambling State University.
“I’m so grateful for all the care I received at HOI,” he said. “They made the experience so easy
and quick.”
