READMISSION RATES
For all-cause readmissions in 2019, Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) had the fourth lowest rate in the nation, based on data from the Health Services Advisory Group (HSAG) Inc. Following elective surgical procedures, the readmission rate shown includes unplanned readmissions within 30 days of hospital discharge – related as well as unrelated to the elective surgical procedure.

HIP AND KNEE READMISSIONS
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) monitors and measures national complication rates as a benchmark for high-quality care. HOI was well below the national threshold. For hip and knee replacement procedures, HOI had for the lowest readmission rate in the nation.
 HIP AND KNEE COMPLICATIONS
CMS measures the complication rate following elective hip and knee replacement within an applicable time period. Through stringent preventive measures, HOI achieved the 2nd lowest complication rate in the nation and the lowest in California.
