Hoag Orthopedics* is a non-pro t corporation founded by Hoag Orthopedic Institute physicians. The nonpro t exists to foster education, research and community outreach in orthopedic medicine.

These numbers speak to the need to prepare for the future:
• Musculoskeletal disorders are the number- one cause of physical disability around
the world.
• Seven million Americans live with a joint implant, now the number-one most common inpatient surgery for Medicare bene ciaries.
• By 2030 as baby boomers age, hip and knee revisions are expected to grow by 137 percent and 601 percent, respectively.
• The supply of orthopedic surgeons is projected to grow by two percent between 2000 and 2020, while demand will increase by 23 percent.
