PRESENTING THE 2017 HOI ANNUAL OUTCOMES REPORT
Our quest to provide greater value and optimize outcomes in musculoskeletal care unfolds in this issue of the Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI) 2017 Annual Outcomes Report. Please allow us to share with you why HOI continues to be one of California’s premier providers of orthopedic care in both the inpatient and outpatient settings.
Health care reform is prompting many medical providers to redesign the care delivery system. Multi-disciplinary leadership teams at the Hoag Orthopedic Institute have successfully collaborated and pioneered transformative initiatives in safety, quality, value and patient satisfaction since inception seven years ago. HOI was one of just 102 U.S. hospitals receiving a top, ve-star quality rating from CMS in 2016; the inaugural year of this ranking. In addition, as represented on the CMS Hospital Compare website, HOI was found to have the lowest readmission rate in the nation for hip and knee replacement procedures from 2012 through 2015.
As a vanguard of value-based care, HOI has also successfully led the way in implementing the bundled payment model for orthopedic procedures and has provided patient-centric care for individuals who have been overwhelmingly satis ed with their treatment and restoration. These feats were sustained through robust data collection, analysis, feedback, and translation into quality improvement strategies as shared with you throughout this report.
We hope the information presented in the Hoag Orthopedic Institute 2017 Annual Outcomes Report is helpful to you. For your convenience, you can also nd a digital copy and prior reports online at www.HOIoutcomes.com. We welcome your feedback and questions.
Sincerely,
Sopida T. Andronaco, BSN, RN, PHN
