MEASURING QUALITY
Hoag Orthopedic Institute’s performance on unplanned readmissions within 30 days of discharge has yielded the following:
• Lowest readmission rate in the U.S. for hip and knee replacement
• Second lowest readmission rate in the U.S. for all-cause hospitalizations
• Lowest readmission rate in California for all-cause hospitalizations.

UNPLANNED ALL-CAUSE READMISSIONS
The national 30-day all-cause rate of unplanned readmissions within 30 days after hospital discharge was 15.6 percent. HOI experienced the nation’s lowest all-cause rate, as reported by Becker’s Hospital Review, referencing CMS data.
